Team Yachad will be “running hand in hand” across the finish line at the Goodlife Toronto Marathon, Half-Marathon and 5K. For 30 years, Yachad has been dedicated to addressing the needs of all individuals with disabilities and including them in the Jewish community. The Toronto Yachad chapter has existed for 25+ years. All monies raised will go directly to the Toronto chapter to help those with disabilities attend many of our famous Shabbatonim (weekend retreats), summer programs and an array of other inclusive activities.
The Goodlife Toronto Marathon will take place on Sunday May 6, 2018. This marathon attracts thousands of runners from across the city, country and the world. For more information on the course, or for any information related to the marathon itself, please visit the Goodlife Fitness Toronto Marathon website: http://www.torontomarathon.com
Once you reach your fundraising minimum goal of $300, Team Yachad provides:
Simply register! Your registration fee ($35 for 5K; $75 for Half-Marathon) is a non-refundable donation to Toronto Yachad. The registration fee will be applied towards your minimum fundraising commitment. As a member of Team Yachad Toronto you will be responsible to raise a minimum of $300. Each runner is required to raise the full amount ($300) by April 15, 2018. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $18 or more by Yachad, The Canadian Jewish Council for Disabilities.
Absolutely! The core group of our participants in the marathon will be taking part in the 5K run or walk, but we encourage everyone to challenge themselves, and join the group of runners that best suits their abilities and needs. The fundraising requirements will be the same, however, you will have to arrange your own transportation to and from the marathon site, as the start and end times are different than for the 5K.
Absolutely! It might take a little bit of training, but many of our runners are first timers. To date, every Team Yachad Toronto member has crossed the finish line successfully. Whether you are a first time runner or an experienced one, you will be able to complete the race.
Even if you’ve never raised money before, just a little bit of hard work and networking will make it easy for you to solicit and collect sponsorships from friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and others.
Experience has shown that it is not only possible, but quite enjoyable as you work to reach this goal. Yachad is a worthwhile organization and our runners are enthusiastic about its mission. You will be surprised how friends, family, and co-workers will respond to your effort to run/walk in a marathon to help this wonderful cause. Remember, you are not asking people to make donations… you are asking them to sponsor YOU and YOUR efforts! Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $18 or more by Yachad, The Canadian Jewish Council for Disabilities.
Team Yachad will be with you every step of the way to help you reach your goal! Should you have any additional concerns or questions related to the fundraising aspect, please email us at email@example.com.
